We have experience of working with a number of private schools and museums with education briefs, designing new facilities including kitchens, dining halls and classrooms. Our expertise in the field of education and conservation enables us to give our clients sound advice and to find creative ways of using and adapting their Listed Buildings to serve new uses. This often results in consents being obtained that might otherwise not be achieved or take time to procure.
We recommend that schools operating from historic properties have five yearly condition surveys carried out of their buildings and use these to formulate a programme of maintenance and repair alongside their plans to improve or expand their school facilities. We can provide both measured and condition surveys and give support to facilities managers by providing schedules of work and drawings to work to. Structural failure sometimes occurs to old buildings. If this happens we can be on hand to arrange temporary support and repairs, as we did at Prince's Mead School when the columns on their cupola suddenly failed.
